HarperHumour
Добавлен 3 фев 2009
For those of you familiar with the Sharpe series, I thought it was high time Sergeant. (Later RSM) Patrick Harper deserved his own set of clips...
For those unfamiliar with said series, Sergeant Harper (played brilliantly by Daragh O'Malley in the films) is the epitome of the right-hand man - to Richard Sharpe, from his beginnings as a Lieutenant to his career Lieutenant-Colonel and beyond... Harper also gets the best one-liners.

Harper Humour XIV - Sharpe's Waterloo
Ostensibly "the last Sharpe", we get a reunion and a parting of the ways. And Sharpe and Harper get to see Boney, at last.
For those of you familiar with the Sharpe series, I thought it was high time Sergeant. (Later RSM) Patrick Harper deserved his own set of clips...

Harper Humour VI & VII - Sharpe's Gold & Sharpe's Battle

Gold (quite predictably) yielded a pretty meagre collection of clips... So I decided to stick it together with Battle, which more than makes up for it. Bloody O'Rourke. For those of you familiar with the Sharpe series, I thought it was high time Sergeant. (Later RSM) Patrick Harper deserved his own set of clips... For those unfamiliar with said series, Sergeant Harper (played brilliantly by Dar...

01:49 Not a proper officer? Why??
I love the expression on top hat's face when his second goon gets done by the ramrod.
One of my favorite moments is in the book where they all look at Harper to provide the blood, and he screams "No! Holy Mother, no!"
*"Says who?!* ....sir?" Well nice to know Pat didn't forget Army regulations
Harpers humour...and a strong helping of Sharpes :)
Been at her sll night sir😂😂😂
Even before they're married, Jane countermands Sharpe. This was never going to end well.
The wedding is funny, but poor Sharpe: he's in excruciating pain after that battle with Leroux, and then they come and tell him that Harper might be dying.
How convenient that those two French cavalrymen didn't have pistols or carbines for some reason.
4:20 was tne part where I realized this show can't be taken seriously. It made no sense that a man willing to start a fistfight with his commanding officer and who is on his way to executed for it would show so much loyalty to the crown, nor does it make sense he could reload a musket so fast no matter how many short cuts he took in the process. I doesn't even show him pouring powder into the breech, which is a necessary step.
I love how Sharpe and Harper became such good friends and allies
"We had a bit of a barney, sir"
i disagree about the right hand man part. but he dam sure nailed a regimental sgm. that is for sure.
and what a team they made....i actually just found this series about a week ago. now i have the books on the way. got to find out what Harris's first name is....lol
"As far as I can tell Major Sharpe is a heathen, Harper"
Said without the priest's lips moving.
It’s a pity that one of the chosen men wasn’t made up to Sergeant after promoting Harper…
Both Harris and Dan, were made sergeants in Sharpe's Waterloo.
In the books, Harper's wife's name is Isabella. Harper saves Isabella after she's raped by British soldiers during the sacking of Badajoz.
Harper’s second “LOUDER” is just brilliantly hammed up
“One of you will die.” “Ok, I’ll go first!”
And then He never continued it
send em to ireland wed be free in a week
This is brilliant - Thank you 👏
Wow, was velcro invented in those days?
I visited Apsley house (the home of the Duke of Wellington) which is now a museum the other day (Hyde Park Corner, London). There were 2 demonstrators on duty that morning, one showing instruments used by surgeons in the day, the other had a selection of arms, one of which was a French sabre that was in the battle of Waterloo. Also was a replica of a Baker rifle used in the Sharpe series and also a sword which looks uncannily like the one Harper presented to Sharpe. Also an original Brown Bess. My background is in historic shooting and I'm also a fencer. I have to say commenting on the French sabre.....it's a wrist breaker!!!!! How a French Cavalryman could sustain fighting with it is beyond me. The sword, which "maybe" the one featured in the video clip here has a lovely balance to it, felt at ease. I need to consult an expert on appropriate techniques, certainly felt more comfortable than the French sabre. The balance, grip and sight of the Baker was great, I was assured by the demonstrator that the feel and weight distribution is close to the original.
Harper hated the English, and probably still wanted to kill Sharpe at this point. But he wasn't so stupid as to beleive that Spanish bastard was going to let him waltz off to America with a bag of gold. The minute he put his gun down he was a dead man.
Payback's a b.
Firing the freaking ramrod! My God every time I see it I think HOW F'ing COOL! Harper was such a badass!
"You fight dirty Harper." Real war is dirty...sir.
04:34
Explain to me why he had to reforge the blade? I can understand modifying the guard, but the blade was already solid. And where did Harper learn to be a bladesmith
In the book version, he doesn't get a high-quality blade from the priest's collection. He gets an old British heavy cavalry sword (the same type as the one that broke) and then fixes it up for Sharpe. It's a key plot point so they had to keep it in, even though it doesn't really make sense given the new source of the sword.
Sharpe saying “don’t go naming it after me” is quite funny because in the books, Sharpe and Harper each name their first sons after each other (Sharpe has one son in the books by Lucille)
They way they all look at him after Sharpe says 'We need blood" is too funny. It's not as funny as Harper realizing WHY they're looking at him, though...
"If you're desperate to hold onto something, hold a bottle" - Patrick Michael Harper, Sharpe's Eagle 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It has to be said Major Hogan also had his moments of humour too.
tricking a man into marrying his love, now that's ministering!
The Wedding still gets a big laugh out of me, I think this was something like the 12th time I watched it!!! ROFLMAO!
I thought I might add to this, 8 years after the last post? Every hero needs a side-kick that is even harder than the protagonist? Not trying to 'big myself up' but me and John, holy fuck, better avoided than look to fight us. It was just a fact. No word of a lie, we were at a party and I was doing very well for myself but John seemed to be getting belligerent, like a true friend, I got us both out of there before it all 'kicked off', if anybody even touched John it'I would have been war, especially as John could bring a war all by himself. Abs no bs, when we we were leaving the party, just to see if I could still kick above my head. I kicked a sign, not for any bad reasons, just to see if I could? Well, John caught the sign and crushed it between his mighty paws. There are movies where people mess with Batman, but you definitely don't mess with John! This is the same guy who literally ko'd two 'serious players' in the time it took him to throw two punches, left and right, bang bang end of discussion. If anybody could 'channel' Harper, it would be John. Pax vobis.
Fans do the best work
I was never happy with the ending of this one. I think Harper should have said "I've been with you through everything sir. I intend to be with you at the end". Then they both go down the hill. I also think they should have had a burial for Harris and Hagman, Perkins got one.
Love the bit where the woman falls off Harper's lap 😅
"you want me tooth... Mother Of Jesus... NO WAY!!!"
As s Metal head I like that electric guitar, but... let's be real, it fits like a right glove on a left hand.
I've tried several times to leave; :).
The TOOTH IS MIGHTIER Than ALL the SHOT & SHELL 😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😨😴😱I KNOW 😣😣😣😣😣😣😷😫g
That Priests 😂😂😂😂😂😂a CLEVER & DEADLY Man g
"We could be without the cup of tea" is probably the most Irish thing ever spoken
Harper gets the sergeant major marks of rank as a dead one's chevrons are unceremoniously ripped off by Harris. Good TV but I wonder whether that was actually done in the Napoleonic Wars.
'.. make sure they're women over 40..' Yeah.. in an era when 20 was considered marriage material..
'Permission to carry on murdering sir?' I'm fairly sure that's not a standard military order.. *lol*
Sharpe *after Harper was shot in the shoulder*: Are you alright? Harper: I've been happier..
Funny thing is, Harper wasn't wounded for the entire Peninsular War or Waterloo campaign. His first wound came in Chile in Sharpe's Devil.
@@ButalaR_101 Aye.. poor sod 😊
